Tamale Teaching Hospital received the Presidential Award for its distinguished service during the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. The hospital was felicitated by the President, His Excellency Nana Akufo Addo, at an event held at Jubilee House on 14 March 2023.
Part of the inscription reads, ‘Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) was one of the tertiary health care facilities that provided comprehensive leadership and contributed to operational excellence, effective case management, laboratory investigations, intensive monitoring and risk communication. -19 disease in the country, especially in the five northern regions and part of the OT and Bono-East regions.
Receiving the award on behalf of the hospital, Mr. Salifu Musah, Acting Director of Nursing, thanked the President and the government for appreciating the effort made by Tamale Teaching Hospital during Ghana’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a similar event, Dr. Letitia Adelaide Appiah and Mr. Matthew Kyeremeh, both members of the Governing Board of Tamale Teaching Hospital, were honored by President H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo for their leadership roles in case management during the COVID-19 pandemic Went.
Similarly, Dr. Abdul Wahid Bawa, Physician, Accident and Emergency Department, Tamale Teaching Hospital, was honored for his contribution in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tamale Teaching Hospital and its staff played a strategic role in contact tracing, sampling and case management during Ghana’s fight against the pandemic.
