Police Restore Calm At Golden Star Resources
Police restore peace at Golden Star Resources

Police have restored law, order and security at Golden Star Resources, a mining site located in Vasa Benso in the Western Region, following an altercation between some community members and the mining company.

It is being told that one person was killed, four others were injured and some property of the company was damaged in the incident.

Police said in a statement that they have since tightened security in Vasa Benso and its surrounding areas.

It said, “The police have reached out to some opinion leaders of the Benso community as well as the vice-chairman and managing director of Golden Star Resources as part of the police’s efforts to maintain peace within the community.”

The statement urged all parties to maintain calm as police investigate the incident and bring the guilty to justice.
