Rev. Fordjour made the call on the 63rd anniversary of Muffantsman Girls Senior High School in Saltpond.
The theme of the anniversary organized by the 1998 Year Old Alumni Group was: “Transforming Mfuntsman Girls for Academic Excellence: Role of Stakeholders”.

She tasked the girl students to break the status quo and reinvent themselves for academic excellence and social impact.

Government’s Reverend Fordjor mentions that he has worked for seven years to help remove systemic and economic barriers affecting secondary education for certain groups of people with the introduction of the free Senior High School (SHS) policy did.

Hence, it was the responsibility of the students to apply themselves towards excellence, discipline and innovations and realize the need to strive hard to give back to their alma mater and the society in general.

Rev Fordjour said student enrollment has increased from 830,000 to nearly 2.5 million, adding that the free SHS policy and the Training Vocational Engineering Technical (TVET) policy implemented in the country was a game-changing policy by the government.

He added that it is time to collectively work to uphold the policy of ensuring that Ghanaian children have access to quality education.

He indicated that free SHS should not be politicized to improve education as the objective was to ensure that no child is left behind but gets an opportunity to realize their dreams and aspirations in the country.
