Joseph Andoh of Mphantsipim Senior High School (SHS) clocked 10.30 seconds in the 100m race to win the Willie Williams Memorial Athletics Championships held at the University of Ghana (UG) Legon Oval on Saturday.

He defeated his main contender Mustafa Bokpin, a UG student, to take first place, while Enoch Ofusuhere finished third.

However, in the 1,500m men’s race, UG’s Abanga Inusah ran a good run to win the event, while Abigail Abugari, winner of the just-concluded National Cross-Country Competition, which was held in Savalegu, won the University for Left behind his challenger Abusure Alhare of Development Studies. The event was supported by Multi Pro Ghana Limited (Indomi) in partnership with the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA).

In an interview with the media, the GAA Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Bawa Fuseni said that the association will organize another competition in Kumasi for the selection of athletes to represent Ghana for the upcoming West African Open tournament.

The participants were drawn from Legon Creative Athletics Club, Mfuntsipim, Marvelous, Koora, University of Ghana, Sporty, St. Louis, Edisco, Holy Sprinters, Osu Children’s Home and University of Natural Resources.
